Moho Fiesta
TABLE SCENE : 4
& MY 7 STEP PROCESS TO AN ARTFUL SMALL GATHERING
INSPIRATION
Inspired by my love for Mexican food/culture,
this modern boho, (Moho), fiesta was set out to bet e x t u r a l
subtle
& super friggin’ tasty.
VAMONOS!!!
2. Design a story
Find decor elements that would reflect the story you are trying to tell.
Citizenry Floor Vases - These beautifully minimal floor vases made the statement I was hoping for. && double bonus, they were masterfully crafted in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Dried Palms - I had these dried palms left over from a past event. With some copper spray paint it gave them a whole new look that reflected the color story perfectly.
Boho Throw - I loved how perfectly my modern blanket from, The Loomia, worked as a modern boho table cloth! Remember to Improvise!
3. Incorporate your senses
Between your layout, lighting, smells, taste and music - they all come into play when creating a vibe.
I put on these tunes & served the best smoked mezcal in town.
All things I knew would set. the. tone.
Make it your own but also make it your setting.
4. Skip tradition and make it personal
Typically, when I think of Mexican inspired designed I often think COLOR!
& while I’m not against bright colors, it isn’t really me.
So, I decided to go with a monochromatic color palette for a more modern and personal twist.
5. The culinary experience
VEGAN MEXICAN LAYER DIP - This vegan queso and those refried beans were meant for each other. Hubba, hubba. It all comes together like so !!!!!
MEXICAN QUINOA STUFFED PEPPERS - The stuffed pepper, a beautiful thing, no?
BUTTERNUT SQUASH BLACK BEAN ENCHILADAS - Made by our very own garden squash. Also, not pictured because despite the ridiculously tasty dish, I was not quite as impressed with how mine looked compared to Dana’s - ha! You get the picture…or lack there of!
SPICY JACKFRUIT TACOS - If you haven’t been impressed with a Jackfruit taco as a substitute and been fooled, you HAVE TO TRY THIS ONE! Top flavor, texture & will definitely be making everything again. Drooool.
6. BE A GANSTA GARNISHER
Don’t sweat it or forget it.
7. Connection through activation
The party doesn’t have to end at the table!
We have spent lots & LOTS of quarantined hours in our backyard forest.
So, what better way to close the night than around a campfire, under the stars with the best company around.
DEVELOPING YOUR OWN VOICE
Pretty simple. If you follow all these steps using items you surround yourself in, colors/patterns you like to wear, and experiment throughout the process you’ll be on the right track.
I challenge you to try this in your own home. Explore, get inspired and create something meaningful for you and your guests.
This is only four of version of my design voice. I’m inspired & excited to see how this project unfolds. Please join me.
